Acupuncture is a very ancient medical science practiced today in most countries around the world and recognised as an very efficient therapy for most sicknesses. It is a completely natural healing method toxic free and with no side-effects.
 
Acupuncture works through the stimulation of the body energies using very fine sterile needles or soft laser beams. The choice of the location of the stimulaion points depends on the type of sickness, the constitution of the patient, his age, the chronicity of the sickness... and other very traditional observations such as pulse, tongue, voice, complexion, painful locations...
 
I therefore start the consultation with a thorough questionning on the presenting sickness, it peobable cause or conditions during which it appeared, and a complete evaluation of the person’s energy status using typically non invasive and respectful chinese traditional methods of investigation. I then set the traditional chinese medecine diagnosis and decide on the treatment I will apply.
 
The patients are then ushered into a treatment cubicule, where I invite them to lie down. Only parts of the body necessary for the treatment will be bared, nudity is never necessary, underwear are always kept, and towels are available to maintain necessary intimacy.
 
I then procede to placing the needles in the appropriate locations. There is no bleeding, and the occasinnal pain percieved by the patients is no more than a mosquito bite. Very quickly after the insertion of the needles, of very soothing and relaxing feeling starts to permeate the body. The needles are removed after 10 to 30 minutes. The patients are then free to get up after I have checked their pulse to evaluate the balancing effect the treatment has had.
 
The improvements in the patients’ condition is usually observed rapidly. The number of visits depends on the nature of the sickness, its chronicity and the general condition of the patient. Frequency may vary from twice a week to once every two to three weeks. As the condition improves the treatments are spread out more, until full recovery.
 
I have many years of clinical experience ( over 25 years) and I am a registered member of the Professionnal Order of Acupuncturists of Québec ( OAQ).
 
Many insurance Companies pay for acupuncture treatments, so please check your insurance contract, and ask for acupuncture coverage if it is not provided.

Patients should not be under the effects of alcohol or drugs.

A few patients do not stand the sight of needles or cannot tolerate the feeling during treatment . The treaitement is then stopped and things get back to normal rapidly. This phenomenen is rare but happens and is known as needle sickness
